Steve Skarky MD is a Psychiatrist with deep roots in Oklahoma, graduating from Bishop McGuinness high school and Cum Laude in Pre-Med and Exercise Physiology from Wake Forest University in 1994. Dr Skarky completed medical education at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and psychiatric residency program, then establishing a solo private practice in 2007. Dr Skarky provides medication management as well as psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy outside the traditional insurance model.
By getting to know his patients on a deeper level and guiding them through a treatment path of their choice, his goal is to have a lasting change in their lives. Recognizing a growing need for men’s mental health treatment, he has focused practice on teenage and older males since 2023, collaborating with the other providers at Prairie Gardens Medical for comprehensive care.
During the initial evaluation, he addresses various areas that affect mental health. Focus areas include nutrition, exercise, restorative sleep, substance use and abuse, interpersonal communication skills, and self-awareness and acceptance. A holistic approach to mental health can lead to a more full, rich, and rewarding life. His goal is to work together with patients to uncover strengths, weaknesses, doubts, fears, and blind spots.
